Carnivale Sword Play
ABOUT
Carnivale Sword Play is dedicated to the instruction and performance of safe and effective theatrical violence. We specialize in everything from a simple prat fall or stage slap to the most elaborate Shakespearean sword fights and epic battles.
All members of Carnivale Sword Play have extensive and continuous training in the art of Stage Combat to ensure safety and knowledge of the most current systems of technique. Live theater is an ever-evolving art that needs constant study and adaptability. Not only do our members teach at both the High School and Collegiate level, but they host and attend international workshops that invite instructors from all over the world to teach their various styles to ensure a world knowledge of this specialized art.
Most importantly, we understand that Stage Combat is only a tool intended to further the story and trials of the play's characters. Each step, attack, and defense is uniquely choreographed to tell the story of your individual production. All of our lead choreographers are College Graduates with a degree in Theater, giving them not only technical knowledge of the anatomy of a fight but also the insight to a character's motives. Allow our company of actors, directors, writers, designers, and choreographers to work with you and your cast to produce a scene that best complements the show's vision.
Carnviale Sword Play also provides specialized "in-house" workshops for your company or school by request. We offer anything from basic technical instruction for any number of weapon systems to learning how your characters lived and died by their sword and the culture that existed around it.
